The SeaGuard XBCR is an X-Band Coherent Radar being developed in conjunction by Northrop Grumman Sperry Marine (USA) and CEA Technologies (Australia) to outfit offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) and other smaller combat ship platforms. This modular solid-state radar system delivers exceptional availability, reliability and maintainability and has been optimized for operations in the littoral environment. It also provides superior clutter suppression, increasing the probability of detection of small targets under extreme weather conditions. Northrop Grumman revealed the SeaGuard XBCR existence in October 2010 with the sensor being available for deliveries in early 2012.

The system's Doppler signal processing enables detection of aircraft and helicopters at ranges of 20 nautical miles (37 kilometers) over sea or land at altitudes up to 6,000 feet (2,000 meters), as well as high- and slow-speed surface targets such as rigid-hull inflatables or periscopes. The SeaGuard XBCR multiple user-selectable operating modes provide optimum performance for different mission requirements, such as berthing, short- or long-range surface or air search, and periscope detection . The radar system is also suitable to identify fast-moving targets, helicopter control vectors and search-and-rescue operations.
